Runner’s Nipple - As I’m Training More, What’s the Cure?

January 21st, 2008

As the 2008 London Flora Marathon draws ever nearer, it’s less than 12 weeks away now!!!  my training regime has been increased.

Tim, Chairman of Poole Athletic Club and Radikls Team Coach, has me running 5 days in 7.  Some might say ‘no rest for the wicked’, so I can’t be that bad having Wednesdays and Fridays off.

Our training programme is as follows:

  • Mondays are a small ‘anti-stiffner’ of 20-25 minutes (following Sundays biggy)
  • Tuesdays and Thursdays are club nights where I’m running on average 6 miles both nights
  • Saturdays are a warmer-upper of 30-35 minutes
  • Sundays are long and slow of at least 90 minutes, I’m currently covering 9.2, 9.3 miles

My problem, hence the reason for this posting, is I’m suffering from runner’s nipple.  I’ve never run this far, this often before!  I’ve taken to using electricians tape as that doesn’t stick to my chest wig nearly as much as the micropore tape I found in an old first aid kit, but there has to be a better cure.

Surely someone, somewhere has the solution.   Somebody else must have suffered from the same problem and found or invented a cure.   On the other hand, have I already stumbled across the perfect cure and don’t yet realise it?

Please help!

Marathon Ballot Entry - You’ve either got one or you haven’t

January 8th, 2008

Tim and I were both amazed at the fact that my ballot entry to the 2008 Flora London Marathon has been accepted.

“How is it?” Tim asked,

“That you a casual runner, unassociated with any running club and at your first attempt of applying, has been accepted and me Chairman and Coach of Poole Athletic Club having run a few marathons before, the best in under 4 hours and on my third application,  has been rejected, dejected, swindled, diddled, some might say snubbed!”.

 ”I don’t know” I replied,

“Some people have just got IT and others haven’t!!” hee, hee
